VONCILE KING

was born in Carlsbad, NM on February 9, 1956

to Norvell and Fayola Beachum-King.

Reverend Voncile was educated in Carlsbad, graduating from Carlsbad High School in May of 1974. She attended NMSU-Carlsbad in 1989, graduating in May of 1992 with an associate degree in secretarial administration.

At the age of 10, Voncile gave her heart to Jesus Christ but she did not really start her walk with Jesus Christ until she turned 15. Voncile tells the story of her rebirth that she was not born “head first” but she was spiritually born “breach” … (Jesus pulled her out of the world “feet first”).

Precious and Beloved VONCILE KING was anointed to sing and play piano at an early age in her life. When she was a year old, she was dying with lobar pneumonia. Her mother prayed and asked God for a miracle for her baby. God spoke to Voncile’s mother and told her that He gave her back for His glory. He told her mother that Voncile would be anointed to sing, play piano, prophesy and preach. Praise God! Her mother lived long enough to see God’s promise fulfilled in her daughter’s life.

Sister Voncile worked at Carlsbad Medical Center aka Guadalupe Medical Center from April of 1990 until August of 2018 when she was laid off (this was a “God thing”). She now works for the City of Carlsbad with the Carlsbad Community Volunteer Network (CCVN), as a part-time Volunteer Coordinator. Voncile also enjoys helping with the elderly at the San Jose Senior Center.

Voncile King has had many painful, heartbreaking trials in her life. First, the separation and divorce of her parents, followed by the violent loss of her brother in April of 1990, at the age of 35 (this really tested her walk with the Lord). After her brother’s death, Voncile went through a period of depression and anger which caused her to pull away from the Lord and others, but by the grace of God she came through these trials and is still serving the Lord. She heard the voice of God calling her into the ministry at the age of 35, but she did not acknowledge the call until ten years later.

Voncile and her mother became members of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Artesia, NM in October of 2002. Rev. Thomas E. Ford was Pastor and after sitting under Pastor Ford’s ministry for seven years, she acknowledged her calling into the ministry. In July of 2008, she became a licensed Minister. In April of 2014, Voncile was ordained into the ministry by Rev. Thomas Ford. She is now serving as Associate Minister at the Bethel Baptist Church.

Voncile’s mother developed dementia after many years of being a diabetic, and she passed away at the age of 82 on November 24, 2018. Her mother’s death was a very traumatic loss for minister King. Voncile’s mother was her world; her rock; her soft place to fall on and her life-long spiritual leader.

For a while after her mother’s death, Sister Voncile was very lost, but she kept on working for the Lord because she knew that is what her mother would want her to do. However, it has been a very trying and painful time in her life. Since her mother’s death, she has developed a much stronger and deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
